Visit one of the most spectacular buildings in Charleston with a visit to the Edmondson-Alston House. Built in 1825, this fantastic home was one of the first dwellings built on the High Battery. The home was built by merchant Charles Edmondson, and was purchased just over a decade later by rice planter Charles Alston.
Guided tours of the home are available, as visitors will enjoy unbelievable views of Charleston Harbor from the second-story balcony. Alston family artifacts and collections are showcased in the home, including Charles Alston's library & gun, family silver, original furniture, paintings, and more. Imagine the lives of 19th century city dwellers as you feel the cool harbor breeze blowing along the beautiful home.
