Havasu Falls near Grand Canyon National Park

Havasupai Indian Reservation , Mile Marker 115, Route 66 Seligman, AZ 86434
Havasu Falls is a waterfall located near the Grand Canyon National Park.

It is the most famous of the waterfalls of Havasu Creek, dropping approximately 100 feet into a large pool. It falls within the tribal lands of the Havasupai Reservation and tourism to this location is managed by the tribal people.

Due to a high content of minerals such as calcium-carbonate and magnesium, the waters of Havasu Falls and Havasu Creek are a beautiful blue-green color. This scenery is set against a backdrop of trees and high reddish canyon walls. The water temperature generally remains around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Dipping into the blue-green pool under the waterfall after a long hike can be greatly refreshing. The hike from Haulaupai Parking lot to the Havasupai Falls Campground is 10 miles one way. Other hikes in the area include a short hike to Mooney Falls and a longer hike to the Colorado River.

Havasu Falls gets its name from the tribal name Havasupai, which means 'people of the blue-green water.' The people of the Havasupai have a deep connection to and respect for the waters of their land. Traditionally, they have been considered guardians of the Grand Canyon. The preservation of this paradise so that many more can enjoy it is a top priority.

Havasu Falls is a popular tourist attraction that offers some of the best scenery for those who enjoy hiking and have an appreciation for natural wonders. If you are planning a trip to the the Grand Canyon, consider including Havasu Falls in your adventure. You won't regret it.
