Somewhere In Time is considered a cult classic by many, and is a hidden nugget of Mackinac.

The 1980 film Somewhere in Time, starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour, was filmed on Mackinac Island. While the Grand Hotel was used in much of the movie, there are other little tidbits around the Island that stand in proof that the film was shot here.

The gazebo that was built and used in the film, now exists in the yard of the Governor of Michigan's summer home, located on Mackinac Island. Another interesting piece of trivia, is that while this movie was being filmed on the island, the local theater decided to show Christpher Reeve's latest hit, Superman. Many of the cast of Somewhere in Time attended the local event. However, partway through the film the sound failed, so Christopher Reeve, seated next to Jane Seymour, stood up in the audience and delivered all the lines.
