Mission San José is a Tour Stop / Pick Up for the following tours:
Mission San José was founded in 1720 by Fray Antonio Margil de Jesús and is the largest Texas Mission.

The mission faced many early setbacks, but ultimately became the home of 300 inhabitants. The vast fields and the herds of livestock found in Mission San José made life easier for these residents. In 1777, a visitor saw the structure and referred to it as the "Queen of the Missions."

A visit to the mission will give you the opportunity to admire the beautiful carvings throughout the church, as well as the famed "Rose Window," which is one of the finest pieces of Spanish Colonial ornamentation in the country. Other notable features of the mission include the convento area, the stairway to the belfry and the choir loft. The choir loft was constructed by hand from a single live-oak log, without nails or pegs.

Visit the granary as well, where you can explore the flying buttresses, the gristmill, the restored defensive walls and the quarters. This historic building is a memorable sight for any San Antonio visitor.
