The Museum open its doors in 1999 at Stinson Field (Stinson Mun'l Airport) and it is dedicated to telling the story of San Antonio and Texas’ role in the development of military aviation. Particular emphasis is on retelling the stories of early military aviators (pre-World War II). It also honors the fallen heroes, covers the World War II Eastern Front, Korea and the many achievements in the realm of aviation.

The Museum together with its members boasts a large and varied collection of historic aircraft which are available for display. Some of them are been flown on a regular basis. Apart from the aircraft, the Museum also has a variety of military jets, uniforms, transport vehicles, weapons and other artifacts. You will be amazed at how some of the historic aircraft are still in good shape. But of particular importance are the replica of Katherine Stinson’s Bleriot XI and the older aircraft dating back to early days of flight such as AVRO Tri-Plane.

The Museum is open from Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am - 5 pm, and it is only less than 10 miles from San Antonio. You will have an interesting adventure for only a few bucks. If you have time you can also learn about the famous ‘Flying Stinson Family” and why the place is considered the birthplace of American Military air power.
