The Centro Cultural Aztlan is in the heart of San Antonio’s Deco District and focuses on offering art classes and showcasing the talent of amateur and professional artists.

Artists of different mediums are showcased whether they are visual artists, poets, performing artists, and musicians. At any given time, the Centro Cultural Aztlan has several exhibits or festivals scheduled on its calendar.

The Centro Cultural Aztlan showcases several artists and exhibits throughout the year in its professional art gallery Galeria Expresión and holds several important festivals and community events for the public. The Lowrider Festival is held annually in May. Visit the Centro Cultural Aztlan on November 2 to view the altars and offerings that honor the dead for The Day of the Dead.

The Centro Cultural Aztlan was founded in 1977 by a group of young activists and community organizers involved in the Chicano movement. They founded Centro Cultural Aztlan as a way to promote Latino/Chicano indigenous culture to the public. The method the founders used to create awareness of these cultures was to create several programs that involve several artists that include writers, poets, musicians, and visual artists. Featured artists are range from students, amateur artists, and professional artists.
