National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, TX

The museum features a dedication to one of the most respected military leaders during the Pacific campaign, Chester Nimitz. Fredericksburg is the hometown of Nimitz, and this museum stands as a tribute to his work and sacrifices. The Admiral Nimitz Museum is located inside the historic Nimitz Hotel, downtown on Main Street. It serves as the link to the National Museum of the Pacific War.
Inside the Nimitz Museum, you can find exhibits featuring the admiral's family, the admiral's childhood, his work in the Navy, his role in WWII and the years leading up to his death in 1966. The museum also holds a fifteen-foot model of the carrier, Nimitz (CV-68). The Nimitz-class carriers are the largest capital ships in the world.
The National Museum of the Pacific War also includes galleries on George H.W. Bush and the Pacific Combat Zone. You can also explore the Plaza of Presidents, the Japanese Garden of Peace and the Memorial Courtyard. The Japanese Garden of Peace was given to the U.S. in honor of Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz by the military leaders of Japan. Stone, plants and water make up the garden, designed in the traditional Japanese style.
