History of the Alamo
Historically, The Alamo holds a cherished place in American history as a symbol of resistance and sacrifice. Originally a mission founded in the 18th century, it became a fortress during the Texan War of Independence. The legendary clash in 1836 saw a small group of Texan defenders, including renowned figures like James Bowie, William B. Travis, and Davy Crockett, stand against the Mexican army led by General Santa Anna, leaving an indelible mark on the annals of history. This battle, though a defeat, galvanized the Texan spirit and ultimately led to victory in their fight for independence.
