This mountain range extends from the southernmost tip of Tennessee to the Virginia State line.

Either way there is plenty to do especially if you are going to try walking the Appalachian Trail which extends an estimated 2,144 miles. This trail is a public footpath that is sure to give the most breath taking views, like the one you get as you walk across the Bear Mountain Bridge to see the spectacular Hudson River.
While you’re enjoying the Appalachian Mountains be sure to stop by the great Smoky Mountain National park where you can continue your outdoor adventure. Many people flock to this mountain range hoping to get a peek at a wild bear, there are about 1,500 bears that live in the park and the Smokies have the most biological diversity compared to any other area in the world’s temperate zones. This park is open year round but may have occasional closures due to inclement weather.
If you aren’t in the mood to walk, hike or camp, take the Ocoee Scenic Byway by car. This scenic byway was the first National forest byway in the nation. Enjoy the breathtaking view as the road takes you to the top of the Chilhowee Mountains, through the scenic bluffs of the Ocoee River Gorge and the Cherokee National Forest.
