Roan Mountain State Park near Pigeon Forge, TN

The park features large areas of flowers with beautiful walkways between the beds. Views of the mountains from the park are immaculate, giving you a sense of being on top of the world while looking down in the valleys.

One of the best times to go to the park is in the spring when the flowers and trees start to bloom. The layout is easy to follow with the trails clearly marked. There are cabins for those who want to camp in the area without staying in a tent. You can make a fire in the cabins as there is wood already cut and provided. Large areas of grass are ideal for running with children, playing a football game with friends or simply sitting to enjoy a picnic. The park features horseshoe areas as well as an area with volleyball nets. There is a basketball court as well. In the summer, there is a swimming pool open for families to enjoy. Special events are held in the park, such as the Rhododendron Festival in the spring. Couples can have weddings in the park as well.

While you're at Roan Mountain State Park, take some time to explore some of the other attractions in the area, such as the Dollywood Theme Park. There are helicopter tours and zip line activities to take part in as well. The Discovery Zoo is an option for those who enjoy animals.
