Davy Crockett has a special place in the history of this nation. He was known as a soldier, politician, pioneer, and an industrialist. He was born in Tennessee near the town of Limestone in 1786, and this park commemorates this event. Crockett moved to Lawrence County to serve in Congress in 1817 where he fought for people to have the right to retain the land they settled in the new frontier before heading out to aid in the fight for Texas where he was killed at the Alamo in 1836. This 105 acre park sits in a beautiful and lush area that is near the scenic Nolichucky River. You'll find a marker that gives a story of his life and a replica of the cabin he lived in. The park also includes 88 campsite, almost half of them include full hook-ups, 30 include just water and electricity, and the rest are primitive sites for tents with no hook-ups at all. Along with a great history lesson and a chance to travel back in time, the park also has amazing fishing opportunities where you can catch things like bass, crappie, redeye, catfish, and bluegill. There are also 3 picnic pavilions that include grills and are set near bathrooms, making this a great place for a beautiful outdoor meal.
