The people living among us may seem quite different, but in many ways they share the same modern-day problems and concerns that we do. The Amish have a way of life that is strikingly similar to our own, but with some distinguishing differences. They live off the land, use minimal technology and rely on their own strength of body and spirit for survival. Their lifestyle has allowed them to live very long lives despite their lack of medical assistance or advanced medical care. Their homes reflect their simple lifestyle with few frills. The size and style of their homes varies according to their families' needs. They typically have no electricity or indoor plumbing and very little use for modern inventions. A hearty meal is cooked in the kitchen, which is heated by a wood stove, and served at the long family table. Do you wonder what it would be like to live like this? Dozens of people do every year when they visit Amish settlements to experience living life on the simpler side for a short time. With no TV, internet, fancy electronic gadgets and many other modern conveniences, the Amish are forced to deal with things the old-fashioned way.

It has been said that the Amish are all the same. In reality, there is a vast diversity of personalities and lifestyles among the Amish community. This tour will show you how varied this culture really is. Our tours are lead by English-speaking guides, so we can share our knowledge of what makes each family on our farm unique to one another. On this tour, you will be guided through a selection of farms that hold regular Sunday morning worship services and who offer traditional meals during your visit for an authentic experience with Amish farmers who strive for self-sufficiency in their communities. It is also important to note that this tour includes both farm and factory tours, so you are getting a full experience from the Amish culture. Although all our farms are closed to the public, you will get a behind the scenes look at our facility and be able to see how we produce everything we do. The tour includes a guided walk through the Amish community in which you may enjoy samples of homemade cheese, meat and bread as well as other delicious treats.

Lancaster History and Craft Beer Walk The Lancaster History and Craft Beer Walk is the perfect way to experience the city of Lancaster by visiting many landmarks and historical sites in Lancaster's urban center. The walk takes place on a Saturday morning in late September, and like most craft beer walks, it is free. While breweries may charge admittance to sample their drinks, they often offer tickets to support them and get more than your weight in beverages. The event is sponsored by the Lancaster County Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Lancaster City Bureau of Tourism, and local businesses. The walk will take you across four city blocks in downtown Lancaster, from one side of Third Street to the other, between Queen and Chestnut Streets. Along the way, you will visit historical landmarks such as Old City Hall and the Pipe Organ Museum (as well as a few craft breweries).
