About Flamingo Gardens

Flamingo Gardens celebrates a rich history begun in 1927 by Floyd and Jane Wray, who built the tropical plantation-style property. Over the years, the couple steadily grew their citrus grove into a beloved refuge for Florida's exceptional plant and animal life. One of the pepper trees, planted in the late 1930s, has even gained recognition as the largest tree of its kind in the USA! These living legends add a delightful weight and sense of nostalgia to your visit. The park is home to an amazing array of animals, including of course flamingos, but also otters, and individual creatures like a bear named Josh. With rotating exhibits held throughout the year and plenty of displays to explore, you will feel right at home at Flamingo Gardens.

About the Botanical Gardens

One of the key aspects of Flamingo Gardens is the gorgeous botanical garden. Expanding for an impressive 60 acres, the tropical-themed gardens are home to native and exotic plants from all over the world. You will be able to see more than 3,000 different species of plants, from sub-tropical blooms to towering trees in the arboretum. It is also home to one of the very last hardwood forests in South Florida, which, thanks to the conservation efforts of Flamingo Gardens' founders, remains entirely untouched. Learn about plants and discover the vibrant and wonderful natural world when you stroll through the gardens.

About the Wildlife Sanctuary

The Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a wide variety of animals. These animals were at one point injured and all of them are unable to return to the wild due to their injuries. Guests can explore the largest collection of Florida's native wildlife. See animals like black bears, bobcats, hawks, and of course flamingos. There are also several endangered species here, including the American alligator, Florida burrowing owl, and the bald eagle. Learn all about these creatures and so many more when you visit.
