Tour Highlights:

• Hampton Roads Harbor

  - Body of water that is a wide channel for the Elizabeth,  James, and Nansemond rivers.

• Blackbeards' Point

  - A section of the land north side of the Hampton River where in the early 18th century the pirate Blackbeard was messing up shipping for the Virginia area. And the Virginia Governor had Blackbeard captured and killed and put him at this site to warn others of the dangers of piracy in the area.

• Capt. John Smith & First Settlers of Jamestown Island

  - John Smith was the leader of a Virginia Colony based at Jamestown, he led exploration down the rivers of Virginia and the Chesapeake Bay where he became the first English explorer to map the Bay area.

• Fort Monroe

  - The fort was originally used to guard the channel between Hampton Roads and the Chesapeake Bay. It also protected these waters regions which approached the cities of Baltimore, Maryland, and Washington D.C. until disarmament in 1946.

• Casemate Museum

  - The Casemate Museum is a beautiful museum dedicated to the wonderful history of Fort Monroe and the Williamsburg region dating back to when Captain Christopher Newport's explored the area in 1607.

• Old Point Comfort Lighthouse

  - The Old Point Comfort Lighthouse is a fantastic lighthouse located on the grounds of Fort Monroe. The lighthouse dates back to 1803 and is the second oldest light in the bay, but the oldest lighthouse still in use. The lighthouse holds a lot of beautiful history and significance to the area.

• Fort Wool

  - Fort Wool is a decommissioned island Fort located in Hampton Roads. It sits on mile south of Fort Monroe. It was started construction after the War of 1812 when the British sailed to the Bay area to burn the capitol. The U.S. made fortifications around the Bay to protect the area. This beautiful fort holds tons of history to the area and is a great sight to see for history buffs.

• Norfolk Naval Base

  - A U.S. Navy Base in Hampton Roads region of Virginia. Providing weapons and ammo storage and loading area for ships of the US Atlantic fleet of ships. See beautiful Navy ships as you pass by this wonderful area.

• Site of the Battle of the Ironclads, Monitor & Merrimac

  - One of the most important naval battles of the American Civil War. It was fought during March 8th and 9th in 1862, in Hampton Roads. The battle was an effort of the Confederates to break the Union blockade in the area to cut off international trade from Virginia's largest cities.
