"We particularly enjoyed our horse and carriage ride. "
This is a wonderful experience for anyone interested in history. We particularly enjoyed our horse and carriage ride. My husband and i were thankful for the buses as we can't walk very far without having to rest. Some of the buildings were closed, however, it is the off-season now. We volunteered for a re-enactment of cases in the court house, and become assistant judges. It was fun and informative.

"After 30 years of teaching young children about our early US history, I still learned new things. "
After taking our older grandchildren, six years ago, when they were 11, we still were impressed with the village when we took our youngest granddaughter, at age 11, this past summer. Despite the hot weather in august, we so enjoyed our visit. The characters were very knowledgeable and interesting. We especially enjoyed tom's talk on bits and bridles. So glad that the buildings were air conditioned and that water was readily available. After 30 years of teaching young children about our early us history, i still learned new things. Thank you!

"Lots to see and touch."
Lots to see and touch. People were hard to stump about the history there. They had answers for every question the people put to them. Well maintained, clean. Everyone that worked there was willing to help if you were lost with directions or whatever. The meals there were also quite good, and a good priced value. I recommend to go there and wear comfortable walking shoes since there is so much to cover. Or even take 2 days there since it was so big.

"The guided tour through the Governor's Palace was very nice. "
We enjoyed this, even though it was a lot of walking. We recommend attending an orientation available at the entrance to historical williamsburg, which really gives you a good history of the town and its restoration. The guided tour through the governor's palace was very nice. We had at king's tavern. Great food. We tasted homemade beer from a barrel that was a wheat and nut blend. Very good. Homemade root beer was very good also.

If you are into learning about our nation's beginning, start here! More information than you can take in, in just one day. Get info from visitors' center or chamber of commerce before you plan your day(s) because not all activities are scheduled each and every day. Be prepared to walk and not all buildings have air conditioning, though they have done a fair job of providing a/c in several places. Governors' mansion a must see. Take a walk back into history.

A lot of interesting buildings. They need to let people know a lot of the buildings have been rebuilt, some are the original. The tours take too long and if you purchase tickets then you should be able to tour it all on your own. They drag the tours out and take too long to show you a house. The guy at the courthouse and at the weapons storage were really great. They gave a lot of info in a short time. Take your own water their prices are way beyond reasonable. The bus ride is a plus to save wear on your tired feet. A must see if your in the area.Good price with vacations made easy

We were disappointed. There really is not enough to actually do for younger kids... We went to colonial williamsburg on a monday in september. Since school was back in session, it was pretty quiet. Some of the attractions were not open but the ones that were open were interesting and informative. Children who are too young will certainly not appreciate the historical content of the buildings. Not enough of the live fife and drums as the brochures would lead you to believe. Seems like i heard the music via a streaming ipod somewhere. The tour guides, however, were great!

Live performances could have been the same one all the time (for some people might have thought it boring since all the performances were only dialogues not actual performances)

We had lovely weather, and enjoyed the stay. There was a little confusion over the tickets we purchased, which seemed to imply they did not have to be used on consecutive days (which they did), but in the end it all worked out great!)

I thought the children, girls 8, 9, 10, would be more thrilled with the hands-on history, but after busch gardens they were pretty hard to thrill. Next time do bg after cw! I enjoyed the weaver and gardener very much. The kids became more engaged when i asked lots of questions of the trades people, who were all receptive and interesting, when queried about details of the trade and era.

Not very entertaining or educational. Actors were slacking. It has changed greatly since when i 1st went as a kid. Maybe because it was the xmas season but alot of things weren't open and there was a very skeleton crew of actors on hand. Also i many thought there should have been more showing of slaves and there treatment.

We are looking forward to going back in the fall - and we won't have to purchase new tickets! We did not stay for the evening shows this time, but are planning to on our next visit. We used their bus transportation this visit, but now that we have a feel for the area, will probably drive our own car the next time.
