If you're visiting San Antonio soon, you can take your family to the Poteet Festival Grounds.

The event is also known as the Poteet Strawberry Festival and you can enjoy the festival from April 3-5.

The first Poteet Strawberry Festival debuted in 1948 when the Poteet Rotary Club organized the event to motivate soldiers from WWII to return to their farms after the war. The rotary club also wanted to improve the way berries were grown and sold and buyers would get a uniform flat, create or pint of berries to carry home. The event has certainly grown over the past 70 years. About 5,000 people came to the first festival. These days, over 100,000 people attend the event.

Of course, farmers feature several varieties of delicious strawberries at the festival. You can also taste a number of sweet and savory treats that include strawberries, whether you're in the mood for a refreshing beverage or want to get more ideas for tasty strawberry desserts you can try at home.

There are 14 areas of the festival, so you're sure to be entertained all day long. You can enjoy country music from popular Tejano and Country Western stars and local artists take the stage as well. You can even witness a live rodeo and gun slinging. The festival grounds also host a carnival with various games and activities so everyone in your family can find an activity that interests them.
