Mt. Judah Loop Trail in Lake Tahoe, CA
Mount Judah Loop Trail is located near Truckee, California. The complete loop is roughly 5.1 miles. The trail is rated as a moderate hike with the top elevation being 8,100 feet. Plan for the hike to take close to four hours and it is a dog friendly trail.
The Mt. Judah Loop Trail tends to a popular tourist trail. The trail is maintained making for a nice walk. The trail is filled with wildflowers and other vegetation. The views of lakes and mountains are spectacular, especially at the summit. To see the wildflowers, birds, and other scenery it is best to do the hike in the summer and early fall. However, snow lovers will find that this trail makes for a nice spot to snowshoe when the snow does fall. Make sure to pack water and wear appropriate hiking clothes and shoes.
The location of the trailhead is close to the highway making it an easy stop with views that are not to be missed. While in the area there are other attractions to visit that include Donner Lake which is a place to go and cool off after spending time hiking. Other activities include the Donner Memorial State Park and Emigrant Trail, the Kid Zone Museum, and the Martis Peak Fire Lookout which has amazing views. There are several golf courses, restaurants, and shopping nearby.
