This exciting tour runs Thursdays from Lake Tahoe to the old West town of Virginia City, where you ride the historic Virginia & Truckee Railroad through the mine lands to Gold Hill.
Ride in comfortable reclining seats on a comfortable mini bus as you follow the historic trail of the Pony Express through the land where Wild Mustangs still roam free. Your tour guide driver narrates about the history of the area as well as the geography, geology and wildlife that you are viewing through the large windows of this luxury mini-bus.
Once you arrive in Virginia City, you make a stop at F Street where you take a ride on the historic Virginia & Truckee Railroad to Gold Hill and back.
Then you'll have a chance to explore Virginia City's historic neighborhoods. Visit mansions, museums, actual mines and pick up souvenir jewelry in the gold and silver stores. No visit to Virginia City is complete without a stroll along the board sidewalks of main street. C street is home to historic saloons filled with antiques and relics. In all the tour takes seven hours.

Explore the rustic charm of this authentic wild west city. A boom town built at the discovery of the Comstock Lode, the first major silver deposit discovery in the US, this city boasted 25000 residents in the 1860s. Walk the board sidewalks of main street to the historic and relic filled saloons.
Tour Stop at Virginia & Truckee Railroad in Virginia City, NV
Take a ride on an historic railroad. The Virginia & Truckee railroad was built to preserve a piece of history. The railroads built to service the Comstock Lode communities were dismantled and sold, but the stretch from Virginia City to Gold Hill was rebuilt and provides educational and scenic excursions. Along the route you'll have a chance to see several mines, exposed silver ore, and the natural beauty of the area.

The Virginia & Truckee Railroad excursion takes you through the mining territory, past mines and exposed silver ore, to Gold Hill, where the depot is restored and magnificent. Then ride the historic train back to Virginia City.
Tour Stop at The Delta Saloon in Virginia City, NV
The Delta Saloon is a page out of a western movie. The experience begins before you even enter as the entrance is one of spectacular wooden doors with transoms and frosted glass. The antiques and relics surround you inside the saloon that is home to the famous 'suicide table.'
Stops may change due to traffic, weather, maintenance, etc.
This tour runs on Thursdays early Spring through December. Please note that the V&T Railroad does not operate after October 31st. Tour rates are adjusted accordingly.
