El Tovar
Considered the crown jewel of National Park hotels, the El Tovar is on the rim. It was first opened in 1905 and cost $250,000 to build. Back then, people considered it to be one of the most elegant hotels west of the Mississippi River. In 1987, it was named a National Historic Landmark. Guests such as Albert Einstein, Zane Grey, Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Paul McCartney, and Theodore Roosevelt have stayed in the hotel. Today, it features a dining room, gift shop, and lounge. Yavapai Lodge
This pet-friendly lodge is the park's largest facility. It is nestled in the trees just about half of a mile from the rim. It has newly renovated rooms and plenty of services within a short walking distance from the rooms. The lodge offers 358 rooms, a general store, deli, bank, U.S. Post Office, and a cafeteria that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Phantom Ranch
Skip the resorts and experience something much better. Just a step above campgrounds, this historic oasis is located at the bottom. It is the only lodging below the rim and can only be reached by hiking, mule, or raft along the Colorado River. It was built during the 1920s when the National Park Service wanted a tourist facility. You can choose between dorms or cabins. Each dorm has five bunk beds, a shower, and a shared restroom. The rustic cabins are equipped with bathrooms, showers, and toiletries. Staying at Phantom Ranch is unlike anything else in the world if you are up for the hike or ride down.
Maswik Lodge
This lodge was constructed in 1927 and was originally called 'Motor Lodge' due to the influx of visitors arriving by automobile. Many renovations have been made over the years to make the lodge bigger, and today, it is a 280-room lodging complex nestled in the Ponderosa pines. It is located just a short walk from the edge for convenient travels. The rooms feature air conditioning, satellite TV, a phone, hairdryer, and coffee maker.
