Continental Army Encampment
Visitors explore the re-created Continental Army encampment at the Yorktown Victory Center.
For the first five weeks of summer, Yorktown celebrates a well known dance, commonly referred to as "the shag," with a summer concert series at the Riverwalk Landing. This gathering is truly fun and exciting for anyone who really appreciates the shag. Each Friday in June will showcase a different Beach Music band, for your enjoyment. These events are free and open to the public, and they're appropriate for all ages. Scheduled Bands Coolin' Out - June 2 The TFC Band - June 9 FAB - June 16 The Rhondels - June 23 The Showmen - June 30 The shows begin at 6:30 p.m. and last until 9:30 p.m. The Colonial Shag Club and Shag Teez will also be sharing a booth on these Friday nights. They will have information on their clubs as well as be demonstrating dance steps and teaching beginners how to properly shag. There will also be junior shaggers from these clubs demonstrating for the crowd. A dance floor will be located in front of the stage and the band, but if the dance floor gets a little packed, you can always dance the night away in the grass or on the street. |

Yorktown Victory Center - Yorktown, VA
We found the area to be interesting. I enjoyed the museum. I liked seeing the items found in the vessel and really got a kick out of seeing the rigging site on the river. My son had fun chasing the hennie chicken and filming the event. My family had a relaxing and informative day.

.Least favorite part of the trip was the Yorktown Center it self..
Really enjoyed the Jamestown settlement outdoor exhibits. Again, our time there was limited due to inclement weather.
