A quick, affordable and fun way to fish is by drift fishing. To start, you basically just need a boat, rod and line. Along with buying these necessary items you will also need bait. When putting together your bait make sure that it isn't too big for the mouth of the bucket of the boat which would weigh down your line and pull it into the bottom of the lake or river you are fishing in. The smaller your bait is then more water can be moved from one place to another by using this type of fishing technique.
You will want to choose a location where you think the fish are. If you aren't sure, use a fish finder on your boat to find them. Once you are sure of the location, set up your line and get ready to drop your line into the water. While dropping down your line, do so slowly in order to not scare any fish away. Once your bait is in the right spot just open up the motor of the boat for about five minutes and then motor back to shore or anchor if you have reached it already. While waiting for a bite, try fishing from shore with another rod just incase a large one takes your bait and pulls it into deeper water that won't be reachable from shore any longer.
If you put your full concentration into fishing with this technique, you may only catch one or two fish at a time. While that is a possibility, if you are in the right area then you could also be reeling in multiple fish at once while drifting. If drifting isn't your favored type of fishing then try casting instead. Cast the line out farther than the drop and slowly reel it back in while keeping an eye on the bait and line. In order to increase your chances of catching something, use different types of bait depending on how cold it is because bait is affected by both cold and heat just like us humans.
