Explore the rare 18th century beauty of the Berkeley Plantation, Virginia's most historic plantation. Built in 1726, the Georgian mansion overlooks the James River in its location selected by Benjamin Harrison IV and his wife Anne. The mansion is the oldest three-story brick home in the state, and still features the initials of the Harrisons and the date construction was completed etched above a side door.
The home is still furnished with spectacular 18th century antiques, and tours are offered by charismatic guides dressed in period costumes. Other features of the home and museum include a collection of Civil War artifacts, a collection of Sydney King paintings, five terraces of boxwood and flower gardens, and more! The home was also the birthplace of 'Old Tippecanoe,' U.S. President William Henry Harrison.
