Located at Lake Pontchartrain, at the mouth of the Bogue Falaya River from which it draws its name, the Bogue Falaya Park is a popular venue an eclectic array of recreational activities, and is also very popular with locals and visitors alike on account of the picturesque serenity the lakefront acreage offers.
Come April and the park gears up for the annual Pooch Parade where you can dress up your pet in his Sunday best and have him lobby for awards like the best dressed pooch and best trick. What's more, you can be a part of this parade as well by joining your pet in the owner and dog look-alike contest. The park is also speckled with a number of booths offering attractions as diverse as pooch apparel and nail clipping. The first Saturday in June sees the North shore Bluesberry and Jazz festival which celebrates the local blueberry farming industry with traditional and contemporary jazz music. March welcomes the Chef Soiree where you can gorge on a selection of fresh, regional delicacies while also raffling for a new car, artwork and even luxury vacations.
Independence Day is brought in with much pomp and show at the Bogue Falaya Park with live music and exquisite fireworks which light up the night sky. And if this isn't variety enough, there are also the gospel concerts and 'Monster Mash' which are held at the park from time to time.
All in all, a visit to the Bogue Falaya Park is a must-do on your itinerary if you're looking to capture the New Orleans spirit in all its verve and versatility.
