I did the Mount Rushmore tour for fourth of July in 2006. I took the 1880 train ride tour and I thought it was relaxing and fun.
I went alone on my travel around the country, so it was easier to meet many new people.
I had a good experience and was happy to see the mountains, and the counrtyside, and the places where movies were made....and even the past little house of ill reput on the tour.
The greenery was lovely, and the wild life, though not plentiful, was enough to satisfy me.
I only wish I had my Grandchildren with me for this. Children will like it, and it is a nice little shopping spree at the end. They give you plenty of time to return to the train.

We took the train when my daughter was about 10 and now will take our grandson. Had a nice time even when the train had to back up and fire up a head of steam to make the grade. Learned to wear a hat on the ride!

While this wasn't the most scenic train ride we have experienced, we enjoyed it nonetheless. It is a nice ride through some beautiful country. We saw several deer along the way and the historical narrative is very interesting. A very good value.
