Winterthur Museum, Garden, and Library near Wilmington, DE

5105 Kennett Pike Winterthur, DE 19735
Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library in Winterthur, DE (close to Wilmington, DE) was the home of Henry Francis du Pont. As a young boy he was appreciative of nature and used that to develop some of the most beautiful gardens that bloom from late January to November. After seventy years of gardening, the Garden Club of America awarded Henry Francis du Pont their Medal of Honor, and cited him as being a master of gardening.

His ability to blend the gardens with the woods and rolling hills of Winterthur is nothing short of artistry.

The Museum at Winterthur houses some of the most unique displays. This includes furniture, ceramics and glass, metals, textiles, and paintings and prints. During different times of the year other special collections are shown at the museum. A tour of the house shows how Henry Francis du Pont entertained family and friends in exquisite style. The Library at Winterthur was established to furnish staff, students, and the general public with research materials about American decorative arts.

Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library is a place that you can go to time and time again. With changes in season, changing of decoration by the museum's curator's, and the plethora of information at the library; one visit will never be enough. Close to Longwood Gardens, the hamlet of Kennett Square, PA the mushroom capital of the world, and the Brandywine River Museum this is a wonderful destination.
