"I feel compelled to return time and again just to touch the place where the first words of freedom were spoken"
I highly encourage one and all to come to Jamestown and see if they can feel the 'deja vu feeling i got while there. While standing at the front of pocohantas' statue the feeling that i had been there before swept through me like the wind sweeps the james river. According to our family tree, my ancestors arrived at Jamestown in time for the bacon rebellion and subsequently purchased quite a bit of land in the surrounding area. Their hearts were in Jamestown and i feel compelled to return time and again just to touch the place where the first words of freedom were spoken. America began at Jamestown with those words and then came to fruition just a short piece down the colonial parkway at yorktown. Anyone who holds a love for america should undertake a visit to where it all began...Jamestown! This fall i will begin my search for the actual spot where my ancestors had their homestead.

"One of the best displays that to date I have ever seen!"
One of the best displays that to date i have ever seen! Vistors are invited to come aboard each of these three ships, and visit all of the areas of these ships. You will get an almost exact idea of how it was to actually be on these ships, what the passengers wore(costumed shippers are there)what the beds looked like(and even get to lay on one or two), where they ate at, what they did for entertainment, and what kind of travelling gear that was 'shipgear' in 1607. It is almost like you are there. Definitely worth a visit!

"Fantastic museum and center"
This was quite an enjoyable addition to our trip. Fantastic museum and center (very modern bdlg-begin there) and visit atrip into our heritage. An indian village, a large military fort, sailing ships from the past and colonists, soldiers and indians to act the part. The original sites have a glass blowing exhibition (quite unique), outline of a church's ruins and the shore line (more adult type info.)

"It was awesome"
Was not sure what to expect since my family and i have never been before. It was awesome when you 1st pull into the parking lot and see all the state flags and the info they provide on the states. Once inside and checking in and viewing all the neat and interesting culture and how they lived of the land. Going down to the dock and seeing the ships they used for travel was very interesting. Its very educational and something that both kids and adults can get into.

Great place to learn about some history. The battlefield, life back then, the indians and the soldiers. This was fantastic, loved every minute of it. Somewhere down the line, my family is related to pocahontas. It was sure great learning about her life, and her family life.
Tip: Take a notebook to jot down all the history of jamestown.

It was so interesting to get a look at what our original settlers went through when they came to this country. I wish i could've experienced this when i was taking american history classes in high school and college.
Tip: Do your research online before leaving for vacation. Lots of options out there.

From the moment one arrives they are taken back into the history of where our nation took root by seeing a movie in the theater. There is also an exhibition gallery that has artifacts, dioramas, and films that chronicle our nation's 17th-century beginnings in virginia. There is james fort and a powhatan indian village as well as a riverfront area with three ships from 1607.
Tip: There are no restaurants but there is a picnic area.

Was over 100 degrees when we went, so found it hard to take our time and enjoy, just wanted to get back to the air conditioned building. It was interesting, and so much information was overwhelming. We are at the cafe and thought the food there was very good just had burger and fries but they were excellent... Almost worth the price.

The docent was very good and informative and entertaining. The tour was very good and a great improvement over our last visit. The dining area was okay, not as clean as it should be but the food was okay.

Actors were excellent and knowledgeable. I learned to make my owned rope from the indians and how to draw blood 18th century style

Jamestown and yorktown museums and living history experiences were very good. We did have a negative experience at the gift shop at yorktown having to listen to a clerk expound upon the perils of electing the party she opposed.

I thought that the jamestown settlement and the archeological area belong to the same management. Once we worked out where we were supposed to be, we had a great time.It was a wonderful learning experience for my kids, from the gallery to the outdoor settlement replica. Thank you.

Weve been coming to williamsburg for the last 6 years. This year we went to see the jamestown settlement and it was truly a great lesson in our history. We have two daughters who learned a greater deal about there past. We loved it as well and we will be back. Thank you. Danny, gina, alice, and emily ward
