Along the flood walls of the Mississippi, numerous artists have offered their craft to create numerous murals that depict the historical importance of the city as well as the hopes for the future in the area's financial and cultural aspects. The first set of murals, a series of twelve by twenty panels, were created by Robert Dafford. In 2002, he released the first of the 32 panels. All the scenes depicted are of importance to the city, including Civil War scenes, some disasters that happened through the centuries, a few featuring the mighty Mississippi River, and of course, some referencing jazz. This artwork is created by amazingly talented artists who have captured the true history and spirit of the area, and this delightful collection gives visitors the opportunity to get a full and true sense of this proud southern state.
