Since 1993 the Tunica Rivergate Festival has become an annual tradition to kick off the Spring season in Tunica, Mississippi. The event kicks off in the middle of April at the Rivergate Park and takes place over the weekend on Saturday and Sunday, providing attendees with fun-filled enjoyment for the whole family.
Some of the events included in the Tunica Rivergate Festival are carnival rides, carnival style games, the running of the hogs, and a petting zoo. There are also arts and crafts sold in the vendor booths. Guest will also get a chance to listen to a variety of music ranging from bluegrass to blues.
Another major feature of the event is the barbecue cooking contest which often has more than thirty contestants treating guests to their own special barbecue recipes. Also, what would the festival be without the signature crawfish? Each year as part of the event, the Crawfish Alley provides thousands of pounds of the crawfish to the festival. If you are not in the mood for barbecue or crawfish, don't worry; there is a wide variety of other food vendors as well. The Tunica Rivergate Festival is free to the general public.
