The Birdcage Theater near Tucson, AZ

Tombstone, Arizona remains a place rich in the history of the turbulent time known as the old West. The Birdcage Theater located in Tombstone continues to stand to this day as one of the most genuine reminders of this historical period of time. Known as a place for gambling, and drinking, the Birdcage was known to attract many different rowdy types. Many elements of what was once a striving business in Tombstone are still present, even the bullet holes that were made in shootouts remain untouched. Over the years the Birdcage became a museum and a well-known tourist attraction in Tombstone.

The museum is open to the public every day to take a step back at that time in history. Individuals can see not only the historic structure along with preserved elements but also historic photos of people who were a significant part in the history of Tombstone itself. Because the Birdcage remains such a significant reminder of that period of time over the years there have been reports that the museum was actually haunted. Whether this is actually true remains undetermined although, there were reports that around 23 individuals were actually killed back in the day while visiting the Birdcage.

Something else that might be of interest, the Birdcage recently opened six more rooms beneath the historic bar to the public. These rooms use to be sealed off for hundreds of years, but now can be explored for even more of an experience. So, if you are someone who loves to find out about history especially that of the Old West, you might want to explore the Birdcage, this is truly a reminder that this time is history was a turbulent as we were told.
