The Tucson Meet Yourself Folklife Festival has been around every year since 1974. The University of Arizona folklorist Dr. James Griffith is the founder of this festival. This is a man who also goes by the name of “Big Jim” and who was honored by the National Endowment for the Arts with a prestigious recognition by way of being a “National Heritage” treasure.
