Every December, the holiday season kicks off in downtown Texarkana with the McCurtain County Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony. The parade includes over 100 entries ranging from live camels, who kick off the parade, to marching bands and a variety of festive floats.
2017 will mark the 33rd annual McCurtain County Christmas Parade. This family-friendly parade travels around downtown Texarkana. There's also an opportunity to pick out your family's Christmas tree from local vendors in the Farmers Market. The Front Street Festival Plaza also has hot chocolate, food and various gifts to get a head start on your holiday shopping. You can enjoy live music as well as you take in the festive sights.
Attendees also have the opportunity to travel through Texarkana's Wonderland of Christmas trees, all beautifully decorated by members of the city. If you arrive a little early, before the parade, kids have an opportunity to take their picture with Santa Claus. Santa is part of the parade, so make sure you arrive early enough. Santa will be in the Plaza area with the local vendors.
The McCurtain County Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony is the perfect kick off to the holiday season. Plus, you can see all the fantastic shops and unique gifts and food that Texarkana has to offer. Make sure you plan to attend with your family for guaranteed holiday fun.
