Veterans Day in Tacoma, WA
Start Veterans day off right, with a special ceremony held at the historical War Memorial Park. Festivities begin at 11am and contributors to the celebration include; the VFW post 10018, Washington Military Department Band and Color-guard, Stadium High School Naval JROTC, and the American LEgion posts 2 and 138. Take the entire family to the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, this fun destination will be hosting their own celebration this Veterans day, where they will be proudly admitting free admission to currently serving or military personnel that have honorably previously served in the U.S. military. All family members will receive half-off of their admission as well.
The original 1940 Narrows Bridge of Tacoma was erected because of the urgency for the military to directly connect the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard to the McChord Air Field. A fascinating military fact that is often unknown these days, but it was the talk of the town in the local newspapers and for the locals back in the year 1940. Take a look at this magnificent bridge today. The bridge is is an important part of the rich military history of Tacoma.
