Amara Resort and Spa is a Hotel and Resort in Costa Rica, located on the northwest coast of the Nicoya Peninsula. The property encompasses a private beach with secluded coves and tropical gardens. Guests are welcome to unwind at the full-service spa overlooking the Pacific and enjoy world-class fishing or golf at Playa Grande Country Club. For families, we offer childcare services and supervised activities for kids. Amenities We offer a full choice of facilities, like a full-service spa and gym, world-class fishing and golf, three restaurants, and a wine bar. The rooms are spacious and feature modern decor, handcrafted wood furniture, and highly personalized service. Offering panoramic views of the pristine Pacific Ocean or lush gardens, all have terraces or private patios where you can enjoy your morning coffee overlooking the restless ocean or watch the sunset from your lounge chair in a hammock. History The resort was originally built by the American businessman and entrepreneur J. G. Putnam on land he purchased. Putnam was interested in developing the area's natural resources and soon named his property San Rafael. Putnam's plan to build a hotel proved challenging as it took time to find sufficient supplies of fuel and material locally or import them from ships anchored offshore due to frequent landslides on the Nicoya Peninsula. One enjoys their stay at Amara Resort and Spa. It's the little jewel on the northwest coast of Costa Rica. It is quiet, tranquil, and private. Beautiful, tropical gardens surrounded by mountains wrap around all sides of the resort. The staff was very helpful, as were all we encountered during our stay. I highly recommend this property to anyone interested in a quiet, relaxing vacation with a laid-back atmosphere and outstanding service.
