Leave the beautiful resort community behind and head out into the rugged, wild for a day of exploration in a real canyon Jeep with an experienced professional driver/Grand Canyon tour guide. See for yourself why they say that the South Rim is the most amazing part of the most amazing natural wonders in the world.
Your tour starts with a ride in a luxury minivan to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Here you will board a rugged jeep and head down into the canyon itself. Your 2-hour adventure is now underway. You will for the most part stay at the top of the rim, moving along its edge and seeing majestic rock formations and have the chance to peer down into the canyon’s depths. You will also hear how the canyon started out as little more than a depression, a ditch really, thousands of years ago when the Colorado River, barely a few yards wide at most, began its millennia of work to carve out the worlds largest natural wonder, eroding the limestone and sandstone walls gradually and leaving behind the amazing beauty we know today. As you pass horseback and hiking trails you will have the opportunity to take in some of the Southwest’s most scenic landscapes up close and personal. You will also have frequent stop at various locations for photo ops and to talk with your driver/guide about the natural wonders of the canyon. They will also tell you about the topography and geography of the South Rim and introduce you to some of the South Rim’s wildlife and plant species.
Your jeep our finishes literally on a high note. Your last stop is high atop the Grand Canyons South Rim at its highest point, Grandview Point. Grandview soars to over 7,400 feet and gives remarkable views of the cliffs, gorges, ravines and of course the river, below. Be sure to have your camera at the ready, as this is not only of the most famous vistas in America, but also arguably its finest. At the end of your jeep tour, you will have the opportunity to pose for pictures with your guide and then will change over to a minivan for a comfortable ride back to your starting point in Tusayan. Following your tour, you may choose to visit the National Geographic Visitors Center in Tusayan to view the 34-minute Grand Canyon movie that is on permanently showing at the IMAX theater.
