Ancient Ruin / Diamondback Gulch Jeep Tour
One of the best ways to experience the Southwest Sedona landscape is by combining rugged off-roading with an archaeological adventure. The Ancient Ruin & Diamondback Gulch Combo Tour offers both, plus fantastic views of the valleys and rock formations Sedona has to offer. Explore a 900-year-old Native American cliff dwelling and take an exciting 4x4 ride on the Diamondback Gluch while taking in the sights of popular red rock formations and other amazing landmarks along the way.
Ride along with your professional tour guide in a custom built 6-8 passenger open-air Pink Jeep. Your tour guide is well versed in the local wildlife, plant-life, terrain, and trivia about the area as well as being professionally trained to skillfully navigate the sometimes rough terrain of Sedona's Southwest region. You will hear numerous stories about the area, fun facts about the terrain and rock formations, and information about the wildlife and plant-life you pass by.
Start your tour down the Diamondback Gulch trail, and roll through the outback, keeping an eye out for local animals like jackrabbits, red tail hawks, and mule deer. Your tour guide will narrate your trip as you travel along the landscape and past sites like the Greasy Spoon and Huntley Tank. The second phase of your tour takes you to the Honanki Heritage Site, where you will get out of the Jeep and walk approximately 3/4 mile, marveling at the cliff dwellings that have remained preserved for hundreds of years. You will find over 2,000 examples of pictographs and petroglyphs that showcase prehistoric creativity, and stone with fire marks on it, where a large fire burned down a portion of the rooms in the cliff dwellings and the stone was later reused to rebuild rooms.
Pictures are encouraged, but please remember not to touch the ruins in this historical landmark. This combo tour provides excitement for guests who are historians and adventurers at heart, and offers plenty of vista views, landmark and rock formations, and ancient ruins for you to explore at your leisure.
Recommended Attire - Comfortable, supportive clothing and shoes are strongly recommended, as there will be times where you can get out of the Jeep and climb around. Tours can be up to 7,000 above sea level and there may be strong winds, so a jacket may be a good idea. Hats and use of sunscreen is also recommended.
