This festival is different from other festivals for sure. Everything is pretty much pertaining to Salmon. Food and decorations are all coordinated with theming of the fish. Handmade crafts and drinks are for sale as well. You can dance, view modern designed cars, and listen to music. Yes, bring the kids. Inflatables, games, dog shows, parades and rides are there for their enjoyment. See, there is something for the whole family on a huge playground. Guest speakers talk about why Salmon is so important to the town. So, there is some history to learn here too.
So why is Salmon so important that the town feels the need to celebrate it. There are tours where you get to see Salmon return during the fall to the creeks and rivers around the area. Northwest Salmon come in by the thousands, returning home to the Issaquah Creek. Chinook, Coho, Sockeye and Pink Salmon are all celebrated for their journey back home.
