Issaquah City Playground near Seattle, WA

When you hear the words city playground, you were probably thinking of just taking the children over to enjoy themselves on monkey bars, swings, slides and sand boxes. However, that is not what this particular venue has in mind. The Issaquah City Playground, that is close to Seattle Washington, is The Salmon Days festival. I love salmon, so I can get with that. A webpage is available for you to check for hotel rooms and make a custom small vacation package.

This festival is different from other festivals for sure. Everything is pretty much pertaining to Salmon. Food and decorations are all coordinated with theming of the fish. Handmade crafts and drinks are for sale as well. You can dance, view modern designed cars, and listen to music. Yes, bring the kids. Inflatables, games, dog shows, parades and rides are there for their enjoyment. See, there is something for the whole family on a huge playground. Guest speakers talk about why Salmon is so important to the town. So, there is some history to learn here too.

So why is Salmon so important that the town feels the need to celebrate it. There are tours where you get to see Salmon return during the fall to the creeks and rivers around the area. Northwest Salmon come in by the thousands, returning home to the Issaquah Creek. Chinook, Coho, Sockeye and Pink Salmon are all celebrated for their journey back home. Pollution during the Great Depression almost destroyed the population. So you can see why festivities take place to show appreciation for a fish that brings hope to a community. So come and celebrate with them.
