The Taos Highlights Small-Group Driving Tour is a family friendly, three hour trip that hits many of the city's historical sites. Among the stops is St. Francis de Asis Roman Catholic Church in Ranchos de Taos, also known as 'The Most Photographed Church in North America.'

The tour begins with pick up at the Turquoise Tours & Gift Shop, where visitors ride in an air conditioned/heated mini bus. From there, the bus will hit the historic Taos Plaza in the heart of the city, with many buildings dating back to the 1930s. Also on this tour is a stop at the stunning Gorge Bridge, which spans the Rio Grande. Visitors will also experience the Taos Pueblo living and traditional Native American village, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is here where some walking is involved. On average, the walk through the Pueblo village is a half-mile and takes about 35 minutes.

The first permanent settlement in Taos was built by the native peoples sometime around 1000 A.D. Spanish colonization followed in 1615. Modern day Taos was incorporated in 1934, and has a population of 5,700, including a thriving artist community.
