Called the Roller Coaster Capital of the World, Cedar Point is an amusement park situated on Lake Erie peninsula in Sandusky, Ohio. The park contains 72 rides, 16 of them roller coasters. It is open during the regular season of May through Labor Day, but runs special Halloween themed weekends from Labor Day until the start of November. The park is a great place for entire families to visit because of its variety of rides and activities. These include special rides for kids and families, as well as thrill rides and water rides.
The park also has a section called Dinosaurs Alive! which contains dozens of huge animatronics dinosaurs. These dinosaurs are based on recent scientific research. Visitors of all ages can explore interactive learning exhibits about dinosaurs, including ideas about how they lived, moved, and sounded.
Cedar Point has a long history. Begun in 1870, it is one of the oldest still operating amusement parks in the country. It is unique among amusement parks in that it has four different roller coasters that are each over 200 feet tall. It is visited by more people in one year than any other seasonal amusement park in the country.
Cedar Point is just one great place to visit on the beautiful Erie peninsula in Ohio. While in the area, you can also enjoy wildlife in the nearby Pipe Creek Wildlife area or visit some of the local wineries.
