Lovers of the sea and music come from all over the world for the annual Sea Chantey Festival in San Diego, California the festival while only once a year brings together a very large and unique set of people that love the sea and the music that is inspired by those that have lived on the ocean at one point or another in their life. The festival has a bunch of different groups to hear from that all bring their own unique style. The event is an all day event but you can of course stay as little or as long as you want during the festival. The cost of the festival is free when you purchase admission to the Maritime Museum in San Diego.
This makes the event a great value as before or after the event you can enjoy the museum as well as going to the festival. Those that wish to join in the festival will have a chance to join the Chanteys to raise the sail on a historic ship. The entire festival is made to honor those who have devoted their lives to the sea especially those that were in the service while on the sea. The music is family friendly and inspired by those that have devoted their lives to the ocean as many of the groups were on the sea for a good portion of their lives or have always had a huge interest in the sea including the life that sailors have on the sea.
