Ferry Ride and Small-Group Tour of Coronado
Fresh air, sunshine, and world-class views await on the Ferry Ride and Small-Group Tour of Coronado from San Diego. Departing from beautiful downtown San Diego, CA, the tour provides incomparable views of some of the city's most famous landmarks, including the legendary Coronado Bridge and the world-famous Hotel del Coronado.
The tour begins with a relaxing cruise across the pristine waters of San Diego Bay. Views of the magnificent city skyline serve as a counterpoint to the striking magnificence of the Coronado Bridge. The hustle and bustle of the city fall away as the ferry approaches its destination.
Tranquility awaits as the tour reconvenes at Spreckels Park in central Coronado. The park can be reached by bus, but if the weather is nice (and it always is), tour participants may opt for a peaceful 20-minute stroll through the tree-lined streets.
The tour concludes on the beach in Coronado, highlighted by a visit to the Hotel del Coronado. Since opening in the 1880's, this local landmark has hosted celebrities, presidents, and royalty alike. The gorgeous architecture of this, the second-largest wooden structure in the United States, is matched only by the views of the endless Pacific.
The gentle lapping of the waves provides a counterpoint to the warmth of the sun as the tour draws to a close. The Ferry Ride and Small-Group Tour of Coronado beckons weary travelers to leave their cares far behind as they embrace the peace and tranquility of some of San Diego's most justifiably famous sights. Those that heed the call will leave with memories to last a lifetime.
Enjoy one of the treasures of the San Diego area on this 3.5-hour, small-group tour. Meet your guide at 2:15pm at the Santa Fe Depot trolley stop in downtown San Diego. From there, you'll stroll over to a nearby pier, where you can hop on a ferry to Coronado. The boat leaves promptly at 3pm, so don't be late: as you journey across the waters of the scenic San Diego Bay, you'll be rewarded with views of the skyline and the famous Coronado Bridge.
Once you arrive on Coronado, you'll have the chance to drink in the destination's relaxed pace and island lifestyle. Go for a leisurely, 20-minute stroll through its quaint streets, or hop on a bus: your first stop on the island will be Spreckels Park, famous for its lovely gazebo.
After you've enjoyed the fresh air, it's time for a snack break or late lunch. Pick up a bite from a local restaurant — your guide can give you tips on what's good, and food is purchased at your own expense — and enjoy a group picnic in the sun.
Then, you'll make your way to Coronado's beautiful beach, where you can admire views of the Pacific. From there, you'll head to the Hotel del Coronado, a famously luxurious local landmark that's hosted presidents, celebrities and other dignitaries over the course of its 128-year history.
The 3.5-hour tour ends at the hotel, after which you're free to continue exploring on your own. Your guide will make suggestions on what else to see and do, give you tips on where to eat and shop, and let you know the times for the next shuttle, water taxi, or ferry.
