Lost Maples State Natural Area near San Antonio, TX

Located near San Antonio, Texas the Lost Maples State Natural Area became open to the public in 1979 and consist of more than 2,000 acres of scenic land.

The Lost Maples State Natural Area plays host the hundreds of thousands of tourist each year. People who visit the park can enjoy hiking, camping, picnicking and swimming. They can also see some very rare birds since the area is home to many species of birds which makes it a great place for bird watchers to go as well.

There are things to keep in mind though when planning a trip to the Lost Maples Natural Area is that the months of October through November are their busiest season. The reason is the amazing colors that develop in the fall on the large Maple Trees and other foliage in the park. Another busy season is the months of March and April where Spring arrives with all its renewal beauty. So, the park does have a limit of no more than 250 vehicles being allowed on the grounds at one time.

There will be other rules that will apply, such as staying on the trail so not the disturb the natural beauty. Also, there are many slopes and canyons surrounding the areas that people will also need to use caution around as well.

The fee to enter the park is $6 for adults and free for kids under the age of 12 years old. There are also package deals for schools to plan field trips for students in advance.
