Joshua Tree Uprising Rock Climbing School provides a fantastic experience where participants can try climbing for the first time or hone their climbing skills and techniques.&
The school offers courses year round in the Joshua Tree Park which has a variety of interesting rock types and formations to make the climbing experience interesting and challenging. Thousands of years of erosion has created hard rock faces, perfect for climbing, and since the 1950s over 6,000 climbing routes have been identified in the park.
The guides are all dedicated climbers who have a wealth of experience teaching people of all abilities and rating levels how to climb. The climbing school offers a series of programs depending on your preferences and skill level. Private guiding is available for day-long or half-day climbs for individuals or small groups. These trips can include 'reading the rock' footwork, knots and belaying.
The climbing school runs two beginner courses, one basic level and the second where you can build on your techniques and learn about moving across more challenging terrain. Learning to climb on your own is covered on the intermediate course, plus understanding the limitations of your equipment, the quality of the rock and anchor building. Other advanced courses include multi-pitch climbing and leading a climb. The school also runs the AMGA Top Rope Site Managers Course and test four times a year.
Courses includes all necessary equipment and belay certification. The best time of year for climbing is from October to May, although the weather can be unpredictable December through February.
