San Andreas Fault Hummer Tour
This 3-hour open-air hummer tour takes you deep into California's rugged desert for the ultimate off-road experience. Cruise the desert, learn about the geology of the San Andreas Fault, visit Thousand Palms Oasis, explore Berdoo Canyon, and learn the culture of the Cahuilla Indians. This area is unlike anything you will see in other parts of the country. With this tour, you will escape the confusion and noise of the city and see some of the oldest canyons on the planet. This tour includes entrance fees to all of the stops, water, snacks, and complimentary pickup and most hotels.
This tour will take you much farther than you can go on your own. You will travel down a goldmine trail that follows Big Horn. You'll drive past historic gold mining areas and feel as though you've traveled back in time. Since this company has permits, it allows you to see things you'll only see on this specific tour!
First stop: Coachella Valley Preserve; Thousand Palms Oasis
Here, your adventure will have its first stop. You will be able to walk over a bridge that straddles the San Adreas faultline. You'll spend 30 minutes walking around to learn the history of the area, and you'll get to visit the actual cabin of the first settler in the area! You will see a lot of wildlife and hear the history of the Cahuilla Indian people who once lived here as well.
Second Stop: Canyons of the San Andres FaultMost other tours have to turn around at this point, but with speical equipment and permits, this tour will be able to continue on! You will travel into Berdoo Canyon. You'll see elusive Big Horn Sheep, some of the oldest rocks in the country, and learn all about it!
