Begin your tour driving along Central Park West beside the most beautiful and well-known park in the Big Apple. This thoroughfare creates the western border of Central Park, and across from the park stand many expansive architectural apartment buildings, where many celebrities have made their home. The tour stops at one of these many apartment buildings, The Dakota, where former Beatle John Lennon once lived with Yoko Ono and where Lennon was murdered in 1980. Also along the same strip, you can visit the American Museum of Natural History, one of the most celebrated museums in the world, and it will wow you with its 27 interconnected buildings and over 45 exhibits.
The tour also drives along Fifth Avenue, which creates the eastern border of the beautiful Central Park, and on the opposite side, the avenue is lined with many prestigious shops, where you can visit and shop to your heart’s content. Part of the avenue is called the Museum Mile, where the street is full of museums and other fine arts institutions, and this area is a must-see for anyone visiting the New York area.
Enjoy a trip to the Harlem Market, where you can find many fabulous traditional African crafts and fabrics and other shops where you can have your hair braided or find unique wooden figurines. Visit Lincoln Square and enter the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, where stage artists can have their dreams come true, and enjoy one of the many free shows available.
