Holiday Lights Extravaganza
While viewing the holiday lights, guests will feel like they are children once again as they enjoy the sights and sounds of the Holiday Extravaganza. The tour lasts for about four hours with a professional guide who ensures that everyone sees the best displays that New York City offers. The extravaganza begins at a location that is convenient for everyone and that is centered close to the sites that guests will see.
When guests begin the journey, they will view many of the locations that are often overlooked by other tours. After seeing these displays, the group will walk toward the Uptown area. The group will then venture to the southern end of the town to see The Plaza Hotel, Fifth Avenue, and other businesses that are decorated for the holiday season. The number of displays in the city is breathtaking with lights on small and large businesses alike as well as apartment buildings and homes. Guests will be able to look inside Saint Patrick's Cathedral and Rockefeller Center, viewing the large Christmas tree that is decorated as well as the people who are skating at the ice rink. Guests are encouraged to sing holiday songs and get into the spirit in any way they can.
This is a magical adventure for guests whether they are young or old. From Bank of America Winter Village to the shops on Fifth Avenue, there is an abundance of holiday adventure waiting for guests to enjoy. The evening ends with a cup of hot chocolate and a dessert.
Feel like a kid again as you embark on on a 4.5-hr, 2 mile (3.22 kilometer) professionally-guided walking tour, throughout which you will experience some of the most magnificent holiday decorations that New York City has to offer. The tour begins from a starting point that is central to many of the spectacular sights that will be seen throughout the tour. We'll visit several amazing holiday displays in this initial area that many other tours omit before heading further uptown. From the nearby Plaza Hotel, we'll begin our journey south (downtown) along New York's famous Fifth Avenue, You'll be both amazed and delighted as you view the many beautiful holiday displays of New York's most expensive and prominent retailers.
While touring along Fifth Avenue, you'll visit inside the beautiful Saint Patrick's Cathedral (dependent upon church access). You'll also visit Rockefeller Center's gigantic Christmas tree and ice rink. If the mood is right, you just might be encouraged to indulge in a little holiday song sing-a-long with your Guide, while in the area. Further south along Fifth Avenue you'll view many more beautiful holiday displays until reaching the New York City Pubic Library and Bryant Park. Once arriving at the Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park, you'll be given an opportunity for a little bit of shopping at its more than 100+ pop-up shops. Afterwards, we visit a few more beautifully decorated windows of famous retail stores before winding down the evening with a hot beverage to warm chilled bones and a deliciously decadent dessert of choice, at an restaurant well-known for its desserts.
Of course, your Guide will provide expert commentary for all sites visited along the route. The style of the tour is lighthearted and gay and with a genuine Christmassy vibe. All along the route, you are encouraged to take lots of memorable photographs while reveling in all the amazing sights and sounds of the holidays in super-sized, New York City style!
