Steel Pony Express - New Orleans Motorcycle Rally

New Orleans is a city filled with rich history, beautiful architecture and modern day attractions. Here you can stroll the magnificent streets of the French Quarter, experience the thrills (and possibly some chills) of touring one of the old cemeteries or enjoy the action-filled nightlife of the city. What many people don't know, however, is that New Orleans is also home to one of the country's most anticipated motorcycle rallies, the Steel Pony Express, which takes place in the fall each year.

For the seventh year in a row motorcycle enthusiasts will gear up and roll into town with the accompanying thunder of thousands of motorcycles during this rally New Orleans is known for. Every type of motorcycle you can imagine will be found on the rally grounds at the University of New Orleans Arena and cruising the streets of New Orleans at this year's Steel Pony Express, scheduled for October 28the through October 31st. The four day event will feature celebrity guests, musical performances, vendors for bike parts and accessories of every shape and size and, of course, fantastic food.

Enthusiasts and bikers alike will help get the party rolling with a kickoff party on October 28the at The Dock. From that moment on the weekend is in full swing and the entertainment is there to prove it. Musical acts will range from blues and gospel to jazz and rock n' roll. Headliners include country sensations Big & Rich and the beloved stars that no bike rally would be complete without, Lynyrd Skynyrd. Musical talent aren't the only ones that will be making an appearance, however. You'll also see some of the biggest names in the world of biking and customizing like Jesse James of West Coast Choppers, featured on Discovery Channel's "Monster Garage", Jim Nasi, Kendall Johnson, Dave Perewitz, Paul Yaffe, Billy Lane of Choppers, Inc. and many more. See the experts doing what they love most and maybe you'll even pick up a few pointers from some of the best in the business!

With over 200 vendors on the grounds you're sure to find whatever bike part you may need or that perfect accessory to complete your biker ensemble. Some of the vendors you'll find are Harley Davidson/Buell of Baton Rouge, Pittbull Motorcycle Lifts, Suzuki, Yamaha, Johnson Racing, Big Dog Motorcycles, Coyote Ugly, Choppers 4 Life, Big Daddy Choppers, Kawasaki and Custom Chrome. Food is also a large part of the rally and you're guaranteed to never be hungry. Margaritaville, Ninja Restaurant, Fil Asian Kitchen, Taco Cone, Pomes Seafood, Tony's Greek Food, The Galley Restaurant, LA Cajun Cooking and more will be on hand to ensure that no matter what your taste you'll find just want you're craving.

So if you thought that Mardi Gras was the only big party to be found in New Orleans, think again. The party is always going in the "Big Easy" and at the Steel Pony Express you'll find that it's "kicked up a notch," with thousands of bikes, great music, mouth-watering food and tons of fun. It's definitely a party worth seeing and well worth the ride!
