About Laura Plantation
Upon arrival at this historic plantation, you are sure to be swept away by the astounding beauty of the mansion. Four generations of the same family and their slaves lived and died at this plantation. Laura Plantation is extremely interesting and has many historical significances in Louisiana roots. You will be able to tour the beautiful Maison Principale, the gorgeous sugar cane fields, Jardin Francais, Banana Land, and twelve beautiful restored buildings. These buildings are preserved in their original states and are recognized as homes on the National Register of Historic Places. These buildings were the homes of the slaves who lived and worked at Laura Plantation. This tour doesn't sugarcoat the somber history of slavery, either. You will learn the true stories of these families while touring the slave cabins from the 1840s and the recording location of Compere Lapin (Rascal Br'er Rabbit). The tour is included and is sure to be an amazing time.
You will then board the van again for transport to the beautiful Oak Alley Plantation.
