About the Cajun Bayou Pontoon Boat Tour
An exciting part of your amazing adventure is the Cajun Bayou Pontoon Boat Tour. From Oak Alley Plantation, you will be transported to Louisiana’s bayou lands to board a fun covered pontoon boat for a 1.5 hour tour of the swamps, marshes, and wetlands. Your alligator hunter turned pontoon boat captain guide will be able to give you all of the interesting facts about the botanical features and animals that call this ecosystem home. He is extremely knowledgeable about the bayou having grown up in Louisiana. The tour takes place on Bayou Boeuf and can include sights of animals such as alligators, fish, turtles, birds, and even bald eagles.

About Laura Plantation
Upon arrival at this historic plantation, you are sure to be swept away by the astounding beauty of the mansion. Four generations of the same family and their slaves lived and died at this plantation. Laura Plantation is extremely interesting and has many historical significances in Louisiana roots. You will be able to tour the beautiful Maison Principale, the gorgeous sugar cane fields, Jardin Francais, Banana Land, and twelve beautiful restored buildings. These buildings are preserved in their original states and are recognized as homes on the National Register of Historic Places. These buildings were the homes of the slaves who lived and worked at Laura Plantation. This tour doesn't sugar coat the somber history of slavery, either. You will learn the true stories of these families while touring the 1840s slave cabins and the recording location of Compere Lapin (Rascal Br'er Rabbit). The tour is included and is sure to be an amazing time.

You will then board the van again for transport to the beautiful Oak Alley Plantation. Upon arrival, you will visit the restaurant on-site in order to indulge in some amazing Cajun-style food. The menu items include everything from red beans and rice to crawfish etouffee. Other options include house salad, chicken and sausage gumbo, home-baked rolls and butter, and to top it off, a delicious bread pudding or buttermilk pie and coffee for dessert. Come hungry, because this Cajun meal is sure to impress! After your included lunch, you will be able to tour Oak Alley Plantation.

About Oak Alley Plantation
Oak Plantation is known for its beautiful live oak trees which stretch across the pathway in a beautiful arch-type arrangement. There are 28 of these massive trees, each looked after with the utmost care by the groundskeepers. Take a stroll underneath these towering beauties for a relaxing time. You will also be able to learn about the Greek Revival-style mansion and everything that has happened within its walls since the early 1800s. The slave cabins with the “Slavery at Oak Alley” exhibits are also very interesting.

After all your fun is had, you will be transported back to New Orleans in the van, enjoying the scenery, reliving your day on the trip, and heading off to more adventerous activities.
