Quite possibly one of the most well known names in country music, Reba McEntire has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry for twenty years, and with all her achievements and fame, it is indeed no surprise that she has been selected to regularly grace the Opry's stage.  With 50 million records sold, two books published, a lead role in a Broadway musical and a television show, and her own clothing line, Reba has achieved stardom in different areas of media.

Background and Early Career

  • Reba was born in Chockie, Oklahoma to a schoolteacher and Oklahoma rancher. Reba's father and grandfather were champion steer ropers, and before her singing career took off, Reba participated in quarter-horse and barrel racing rodeos.
  • When Reba sang the national anthem at the National Finals Rodeo in 1975, singer Red Steagall told her she should go to Nashville to record demos. It was only a year later that her first single hit the country charts.

Grand Ole Opry Induction

  • Reba was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on January 14, 1986. By this time, her music career had very much taken off with hits like 'Can't Even Get the Blues No More,' 'Somebody Should Leave,' and 'How Blue.'

Grand Ole Opry Country Music Show - Nashville
My girlfriend and i had a wonderful time in nashville recently. We attended the grand ole opry and saw our favorite entertainers up close: (leann rimes, lorrie morgan, pam tillis and others). We shopped a lot in the malls and downtown shops, dined at some really fine restaurants, and visited the country music hall of fame. We attended the michael buble' concert, which was fantastic as we sat near the front of the stage. We slept very comfortably at the alexis inn and suites near the airport. My girlfriend's father, jack mallante, had performed with ernest tubb and barbara mandrell years ago, and we got lots of pictures of him and them and memorabalia. We had a wonderful time in nashville! Thank you, vacations made easy!

The ticket price was great the seat was only seven rows back albeit a little too far to one side for my liking. Nonetheless, it was still a good seat and the show was excellent. Vacations made easy lived up to its name. We simply traded in our print-out tickets for official ones at the ticket office and walked right in and took our seats. It was easy. Thank you. I will definitely recommend vme to anyone who would listen.

Great show, great seats! Was kinda cool to be part of live radio broadcast. The only comment i would have is to plan how you're getting there from hotel. We took bus from town (very cheap), but bus let us off at mall. We didn't know where grand ol opry was located from there so we panicked a little til we found out it was just on other side of mall. There are some nice restaurants in mall so plan on getting there soon enough to enjoy dinner before the show. We also took backstage tour immediately after show & well worth it. Came out through gift shop, was shuttled to where taxis were parked and was back at hotel in town in no time. Cab was reasonable, too.
