Scotty McCreery At Grand Ole Opry
Scotty McCreery rose to stardom when he captured the admiration of more than 38 million viewers and won the tenth season of American Idol. He arrived for his first audition as an 18-year-old hopeful and left a few weeks later as country's newest star.
McCreery grew up in Garner, NC, where he competed in, and often won, several smaller singing competitions before American Idol. Scotty sang mostly country tunes for his Idol performances. Immediately following his win, McCreery released his first album, Clear As Day. McCreery has performed at some of the country community's biggest celebrations, including the CMT Music Awards and the CMA Music Festival. His Opry debut was in June 2011, when he performed with fellow American Idol contestant Lauren Alaina.
Clear As Day rose to No. 1 and is certified platinum. Two of McCreery's singles, “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble With Girls,” broke into the Top 20 on the country charts. McCreery was declared the American Country Music Awards' New Artist of the Year in 2011.
