Mindy Smith At Grand Ole Opry
Mindy Smith's music appeals to a wide variety of listeners beyond country radio. Her melodic, spiritually- charged songs have been classified as country, bluegrass, folk, and alternative.
Smith is the adopted daughter of a preacher. She grew up on Long Island and moved to Nashville to pursue a singing and songwriting. She won over country fans with her first hit, a cover of “Jolene” recorded for a Dolly Parton tribute album. Dolly Parton herself sang backing vocals for a later mix of the song and has performed it with Smith.
Smith's biggest hit, “Come to Jesus” was played on country, Christian, AAA, and adult contemporary radio stations across the country and peaked at No. 32 on Billboard's Adult Top 40 chart. Smith has recorded four studio albums as well as a Christmas album, My Holiday, for which she wrote six original Christmas songs. She's performed on various late night TV programs and appeared at the Cambridge Folk Festival.
